Artist Statement: “Painting is my passion and life is my inspiration. Many of my paintings are inspired by my life, loves and pleasures. Whether I choose to paint realistically or abstractly depends on the moment and vision of that piece and sometimes… that changes! When I choose a subject to paint, it has to pull me in! I find that color and light creating contrasts are what attracts me.”
Art has always been a part of Rosie and she has finally allowed her passion to grow and develop.
A native of Texas, Rosie has lived with her husband and family in Texas, Louisiana, Kansas, London UK, Missouri and as of August 2010, is delighted to finally call Charleston home and looks forward to a long and rewarding lifestyle in the culturally rich “lowcountry”. She works from her home studio on Yonges Island where she is surrounded by the ever changing and beautiful marsh and water scenes. Most of her paintings are inspired by her life, loves and pleasures and why she says, “Painting is my passion and life is my inspiration!” Rosie continues to develop her personal style and paints both realistically and abstractly which depends on the inspiration and vision of that piece. She paints in oils, watercolors and acrylics creating landscapes, still life, pet portraits and loves to paint what she calls a “landscape still life”, a close up snippet of an outdoor scene. “Life is full of inspiration when you open your eyes to it!” Rosie often finds her subject matter when not even looking for it, so she usually has a camera close by and is inspired to paint special places she has been to or people she comes across. She has many reference photos and hopes to paint them all. For many years prior, Rosie would take photographs and say, “Someday, I will paint that!”!
The local art associations and workshops have fueled her passion to pursue this artistic path with opportunities to learn by getting her brush and feet wet as an artist. Rosie has studies under several nationally known artists from which she continues to develop her own personal style. Part of the learning process has also been to get involved with the business and governing of local art societies and councils. Today, she is honored to have her work hang in private collections in N Carolina, S Carolina, Florida, Alabama, and Missouri.
